Mercier Orchards- Our New Fall Tradition!

Oh my gosh y'all I don't even have pictures to post for everything we enjoyed at Mercier Orchards because we were having SO much fun! Sometimes it's just nice (and needed) to unplug and spend quality time with your family, right!? My phone was in the backpack almost all day and I didn't even bring the camera... oops! I'm sorry in advance for the iPhone pics and lack of photos but let me just tell you about our day at Mercier Orchards and why it is now our favorite fall family tradition!

Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge Georgia is a family owned and operated apple orchard now in it's 4th generation. It started back in 1943 by Bill & Adele Mercier and is now celebrating 75 years of fruitful harvest! We took a tractor trailer ride through the orchards and learned SO much about this beautiful place! It's right in the middle of the Blue Ridge mountains and from the highest point we could see mountains in Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina... it was beautiful!!

We were a little bummed to find out that we couldn't actually pick any apples and will definitely go a few weeks earlier next year but we got to taste them which was not a bad alternative! I honestly had no idea there were so many different types of apples! We also tried a hard apple cider, regular apple cider, spiced warm apple cider (LOL!) and the best apple donuts... seriously the best donuts I've ever had!

Mercier Orchards also has a restaurant, winery, bakery and a huge "country store" that we totally got lost in! I could have spent all day just in the store! John Riley was excited to get his first bow & arrow, Bennett was happy with a new truck & I wanted one of the puppies that was up for adoption but John said absolutely not... maybe next year! ;)

After doing more exploring around the lake and soaking in the beautiful mountain views we said good-bye to Mercier Orchards and headed back into town for dinner. Historic downtown Blue Ridge is so charming! We got to watch the train leave the station which the boys loved and I shopped in some adorable little boutiques.

It was such a fun little getaway with the family! We are already talking about our visit next fall and looking for even more to do in the surrounding areas! If you know of any... let me know!

Making these holiday traditions is so important to John and I. When the boys are grown up I hope they always look back at the holidays and have happy memories of all the traditions we're starting with them now.

What traditions do you all have with your families? I'd love to hear!
