Let's Party Like Animals!!!
With the boys birthday's being only 13 days apart, I knew I wanted to throw one big celebration last year... Bennett turned one and John Riley turned five so my mama heart was definitely in pieces! I felt like John Riley was officially a "big kid" and Bennett turning one... need I say more?! This Party Like An Animal theme was perfect!
This was a birthday party for the books because we were hit with a hurricane the week before and ended up being out of power for 5 days straight! Thank goodness for our friends who took us in and by the grace of God our power came back on the NIGHT before the party! I'll never forget running around to the stores to pick up party decor with traffic lights being out, palm fronds scattered in the streets and storing the party supplies in a corner of my friends kitchen so that the six kids we had under one roof wouldn't get into everything... ahhh!
Because of that, I didn't do quite as much as I had planned but I think the decor still turned out so cute! Since all the animals gathered at the "watering hole" for this party (the pool), I decided to get inflatable jungle animals to put in the pool and use as party favors! The kids loved them and they added an element of fun!
My sweet friend, Emilee Furmanski made the cakes for the boys and mini cupcakes for everyone else. If you're in South Florida, she is the best!
I really focused on the dessert table by adding the felt letter board, mason jars filled with wild animals and greenery and a few fun animal print balloons! Most of the decor was found at Target, Hobby Lobby & Party City.
Somehow we pulled it off and the boys had such a great time! Do you go all out for your kids birthday's or keep it small with just close family and friends?
